0LD PENSION SCHEME WILL NOT BE IMPLEMENTED IN THE STATE

While presenting the budget for the year 2022-23 in the state assembly, the government had announced to implement the Old Pension Scheme for all the employees appointed on or after January 1, 2024. But when Union Home Minister Amit Shah was asked a question on the above scheme, the Home Minister had said that a committee will be formed on this issue.

Let us tell you that the then Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, while presenting the budget of 2022-23, had announced to implement the Old Pension Scheme for all the employees appointed on or after January 1, 2024. However, this scheme could have been implemented in the state had the Bharatiya Janata Party ousted Congress from power by winning 115 out of 200 assembly seats in the 2023 assembly elections. After Congress was ousted from power, clouds of danger were looming over whether Ashok Gehlot's plan would be implemented or not.

Congress had promised that if the party returned to power, OPS would be implemented in the state by making a law. On the other hand, BJP did not talk about this scheme in its manifesto.

According to the media, the situation regarding this scheme will be clear only on January 22. Because the session of Rajasthan Assembly is starting from 19th January. Two Congress MLAs – Govind Singh Dotasara and Indira Meena have raised questions regarding OPS. On this, Deputy CM Diya Kumari will reply on January 22.

Now everyone's eyes are fixed on January 22. A question regarding OPS has been listed on this day. The statement given by Finance Minister Diya Kumari in the House that day will make it clear whether the state employees will get the benefit of the Old Pension Scheme or the government will make any changes in it.
